Time Capsules

Welded Closure Style 4500 & 4550

Very similar to the 4000 Line time capsules. These do not include the Professional Preservation service. These time capsules provide an affordable alternative designed for museum folks and those who are already knowledgeable about document preservation and safe artifact storage. Material: 304L stainless steel of .075” thickness.

Finish: Natural.

Closure:Welded-closure.

Air conditioning: Conversion via oxygen absorbers, conditioning via silica gel (included).

450xx: Factory Closure. Send us your items to place into the time capsule and we add conditioners to extract air, weld closed, and ship back to you for placement.

455xx: Customer Closure. We send you the time capsule bottom and top, with welding instructions for a certified welder to close and conditioners to extract air.

FEATURES

• Custom sizes & shapes are available. Call for an estimate.
• All capsules include Ageless oxygen absorbers and silica gel conditioners. For customer closure style, we estimate your capsule to be 3/4 full. For factory welded closure you get the exact amount needed, no matter how empty you capsule is.
• Use one of our preservation enclosures kits for additional protection for contents while in storage. Estimate the size of kit needed by comparing cubic inches of each.
• Customer closure option includes instructions for a certified welder.
• Place in either a vertical or horizontal direction.
• If closure is welded properly, capsule is considered safe for burial up to 200 years or more depending upon conditions of placement.

NOTE: Allow 6 - 7 weeks’ fabrication time if not in stock. Call for availability if you want a size that is not included here, or a Full Preservation Style. We try to keep certain sizes in stock, and we can verbally hold a capsule for you for 24 hours pending PO composition or definite order status. If capsule is in stock, we can usually ship Customer Closure capsules within 5 working days after payment.

Special Note: During the planning stages of your time capsule project, you might consider requesting either a plain brown mock-up box similar in size to the capsule you desire, and/or an archival gray inner box. The mock-up box helps you decide what capsule size you will need, while the archival liner boxes give you a protective way to gather items.

Dimensions: Specified dimensions below are smaller than the overall measurements, so call for outer dimensions if necessary. Be sure to figure a size high enough for your longest item, even if on the diagonal.
